Toronto Waterfront: A ferris wheel, monorail and mega-mall
The Ford brothers are insane!!! Between the Waterfront Toronto plan linked above and this devastating news on canceling all chances of Toronto bidding for the 2020 Olympics, I don’t know what the Ford’s can do next that could possibly be any worse!
I don’t know what to make of the Waterfront Toronto thing - though I agree with the notion that it is moving waaaay too slowly - but I’m actually pretty ok with not supporting an Olympic bid, considering Toronto currently is a QUARTER BILLION in the red.
Olympic Games do not make money for a city (the only Games that have made money took place in cities where no additional infrastructural development was needed - something that is clearly not the case in Toronto), so unless you’d like to fall back to trickle-down economics to justify it (look how well that worked for the international economy!), I’d suggest re-thinking your position.
The Fords may deserve criticism for many things, but the decision to not support the Olympic bid isn’t one of them.
